Antique Variable Star Quilt

This antique Variable Star Quilt has also been called an Ocean Waves or Chicago Star quilt. This versatile, traditional block is often used in scrappy quilts and uses half-square triangles to form the point of the star around a central square.

This quilt is hand-sewn and hand-quilted with a hand-sewn binding. The fabric is probably from the 1940's and is a wonderful collection of early American florals and dottys. There is some damage to some of the triangles and some discoloration. The backing is a mint green and the filling looks to be an old wool blanket.
