Home Fabric, Trim and Wallcovering for Fabricut

Fabricut partners with French General and Kaari Meng for their second collection featuring reinterpreted 18th Century French textiles curated for a simplified lifestyle. Kaari’s passion for the French home, its lived-in simplicity, soft sun-drenched color and elegant natural textiles are the cornerstones of French General – Volume II.

While designing this new collection, Fabricut’s design team and Kaari scoured 18th Century French textile documents – many from Kaari’s personal findings – and studied current home trends in France and the U.S. to find the perfect combination of historical and new traditional designs. The result is a 162-sku collection merchandised into three color stories and includes a cohesive selection of prints, wovens, embroideries, solid linens and trimmings that embody the French General lifestyle. Inspired by designs originating from 18th Century textiles traded between France and Asia, French General – Volume II’s new highlights include grand-scale florals, ikat dots (Ikat Pointe) and batik prints to broaden the French General look for today’s interiors. Traditional French patterns like a large-scale stripe (Bande), a ticking stripe (Galon), a latticework embroidery (Orsay) and small- scale woven lattice (Basilica) provide the perfect companion pieces. Two new damask prints – Le Monte and Loire – offer a casual elegance that could be found in a Parisian apartment. Plus, new colorways have been added to several best-selling and classic patterns from Kaari’s first fabric collection – Albi Linen, Aviary Toile, Cassis, Josephine and Septfond.

The French General – Volume II color palette is reflective of the French countryside of Cognac – golds, olive greens, warm neutrals, spice, and coral; the seaside of the French Riviera – sun-drenched aqua, clear sparkling blues, and shades of navy; and the marble and stone laden interiors of Paris’s most famous museums, Musee – purest and cleanest whites and soft ivory with cool and warm shades of grey. Each color palette can stand on its own; but, as Kaari says, “combined together, the prints, stripes, embroideries, wovens and trimmings come alive.”
