The Folk Stitchery Zoom Workshop with Anne Kelly / Saturday, February 5th, 2022 / 10-1pm PT

$ 150.00

Join us for a wonderful morning stitch workshop with Anne Kelly. Using a linen base and the French General solid collection, you will be shown Anne’s favorite appliqué techniques as well as her unique stitch ideas.
Inspired by an antique fraktur,  Anne designed this piece to be personalized or to carry a message of your own.

Basic stencilling and applique, embroidery and stitching techniques will be covered and this course is suitable for most levels of experience and ability.
We will be inspired by traditional early American Folk Art designs,
Pennsylvania Dutch ‘fraktur’ which Anne
has documented and researched in her book ‘Textile Folk Art’ (Batsford,
2018).  Fraktur is a folk art form practiced by Pennsylvania Germans principally from the mid-eighteenth to the mid-nineteenth centuries.
During the short three hour workshop you will have time to assemble the basic structure
of your design and receive instructions about adding background stitching,
embellishing and adding extra motifs or objects to your piece.

During the last session of the morning you will be instructed on how to mount
display and finish your piece, and also have the opportunity to ask questions
about the piece to Anne.
