Fall Indigo Workshop / Sunday, October 15th / 1-5pm
$ 150.00
Join us for a day of indigo dyeing in Los Angeles! This one day workshop will focus on creating a stitched resist - a shibori technique called Nui - to create a beautiful indigo scarf. The Nui technique is a simple running stitch used on the cloth then pulled tight to gather the cloth. The thread must be pulled very tight to work, and a wooden dowel must often be used to pull it tight enough. Each thread is secured by knotting before being dyed.
Students are welcome to bring their own bits and pieces to dye (linen, hemp, cotton or silk) - no terry cloth material, no wool and nothing larger than 12x36.
Indigo vats, stitching notions, cotton scarf, and gloves provided, please bring an apron and wear dark clothes!
