Block Printing Workshop with Molly Meng / Saturday, November 12th 11-2pm
Block Printing is one of the oldest types of printmaking, and has been around for thousands of years.
There is evidence that it existed as early as the fifth century BC, with actual fragments found from as early as the fifteenth century.
It has been done around the world, with roots in India, China and Japan.
Join us for a really fun day with the amazing, brilliant, out of this world, Molly Meng: You’ll learn to create and carve your very own "block" for printing with ink and paint on fabric and paper. We’ll learn about transferring images, designing your own, building repeat patterns, and an introduction to the various supplies and tools that can be used in this exciting process.
We'll be printing on both fabric and paper, you may want to bring an apron!
As with any project that can be personalized, if you have a design you'd like to try, feel free to bring it with you, as well as anything in particular you might want to try printing on in class.
All materials are supplied for this workshop.
